The effort of Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, the Ondo State governor, towards boosting the economy of the state through industrialization is yielding positive results. This drive has been occasioned by the establishment of a Refinery, Fertilizer and Petrochemical plants in the Olokola Free Trade Zone of Ondo State. This has been described as a catalyst that will cause an industrial explosion in the state.
This was the declaration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko on the 4th September, 2013 during an interview in Abuja after the signing of a $3.3 billion medium term loan between Dangote group and consortium of Local banks and international finance organisations for the establishment of the plants.
He also affirmed that the project will bring about repid increase in the number of Industries in the state, maintaining that more would spring up in an attempt to provide complementary services to the Dangote Plants.
In similar vein, president of the Dangote group and world's richest African, Alhaji Alinko Dangote said the Industrial Complex would be the largest in the history of Nigeria. He equally revealed that about 8,000 engineers would be neede for the smooth take off of the project and added that when completed, it would provide direct and indirect jobs for over 85,000 Nigerians and make the country self reliant in Petroleum and Petrochemical products.
