Physical Fitness Helps Prevent Heart Attacks

Increased levels of physical fitness reduce the risk of having heart attacks and boost the survival among those suffering from coronary artery disease, shows study.

Lead author Rupert Hung, a medical student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, said that in their study, the patients who were most fit had a 75 percent lower risk of dying from any cause compared to those who were least fit.

He said that this was true regardless of whether the patient had previous stenting or bypass surgery to open up any blocked arteries.

NFF to borrow cash for Ethiopia game....................Naija on point

The Nigeria Football Federation will again have to borrow for next weekend’s 2014 World Cup playoff against Ethiopia, officials disclosed on Wednesday.

Available statistics suggest that the NFF will need at least N50m for the November 16 playoff for a place at next year’s World Cup in Brazil. It was explained that the cost has been reduced because of the part sponsorship from the Cross River State government.

This will be to cover match bonuses as well as the return ticket refunds for the team and also logistical costs.

Around 2,265 couples are planning to get married on 12th November 2013 (11/12/13) in a bid to tie the knot on the last sequential date of 2013.

After quizzing around 500 brides for the research, wedding retailer David's Bridal reported a 722 percent increase in marriages on the second Tuesday in November from 371 percent in 2012, the New York Daily News reported. 

Brian Beitler, chief marketing officer of the company, said that the study has shown that couples love dates that have patterns. 

The company is expecting the last consecutive series of the century - 

12/13/14, which will occur in 2014 and falls on a Saturday, to reach record-breaking numbers. 

Beitler added that iconic dates have become a trend in the US.

At last, FG dissolves PHCN, pays workers N360bn

The Federal Government on Friday officially dissolved the Power Holding Company of Nigeria after it handed over the 14 successor companies created from the unbundling of PHCN to their respective new owners across the country.

Speaking at the official physical handover ceremony of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to its new owner, Kann Utility Consortium Nigeria Limited, the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, stated that the government had paid N360bn to workers of the defunct PHCN.

He explained that there might be some teething issues such as an increase in electricity tariff as soon as the new power owners commenced operations in earnest, but stressed that the problems would abate with time.

Internal haemorrhoids lie far enough inside the rectum that you can’t see or feel them. They don’t usually hurt because there are few pain-sensing nerves in the rectum. Bleeding may be the only sign that they are there. Sometimes internal haemorrhoids  prolapse, or enlarge and protrude outside the anal sphincter. If so, you may be able to see or feel them as moist, pink pads of skin that are pinker than the surrounding area. Prolapsed haemorrhoids may hurt because they become irritated by rubbing from clothing and sitting. They usually recede into the rectum on their own; if they don’t, they can be gently pushed back into place.
